So where do these harmful toxins come from?
Diet – your diet plays a big part in your overall well being as food controls just about every metabolic event in the body. Your body has an inbuilt process that will help to remove toxins so it is helpful to eat foods that support detoxification such as fruit, vegetables (especially dark green veg) and organic meat and fish.
Carbohydrates – Man-made carbohydrates are full of toxins and increase the risk of illness and cellulite as fat storage. These toxins, once inside the body, have to live somewhere and they choose the fat cells, making fat stubborn and hard to get rid of.
Bad fats – Not all fats are bad, you need good fats to keep to your body healthy, they come from natural sources such as oily fish, nuts and avocado.
Saturated and trans fats, however, the body does not need. These fats are found in processed foods such as chocolate, cake, doughnuts and chips to name but a few and are full of unwanted chemicals.
Lack of fibre – Fibre is an important part of the diet; its job is to remove toxins and waste from the body. It also keeps our organs and bodily systems healthy. In general the western diet is very low in fibre.
Water – Water is used by every cell in the body, and is essential in the detoxification process.
Smoking not only damages your lungs, destroys important body receptors but also pumps toxins into the body!
Excessive drinking harms the liver which is an essential part of the detoxification process.
Not only do all these toxins harm your health but they also age you, toxins have been linked with hair loss, poor skin quality……cellulite and wrinkles.
How to beat toxins
- Reduce processed carbohydrates from the diet
- Reduce sugar intake
- Increase green veg intake
- Increase fibre intake
- Eat lots of green vegetables
- Drink over 2L of water each day
